While the Tex-Mex sound remains inimitably theirs – with horn runs, Joey Burns’ twanging guitar and John Convertino’s shuffling percussion – this album seems consciously more understated. Carried to Dust (2008) was lush and bold, while Algiers goes underground in search of shadowy and forsaken answers. Full review here.
